Bachmann Digital Controller

Do you have multiple trains? With a digital controller you won’t have any hang-ups.  The Bachmann Digital Controller will do the job!  You haven’t heard of Bachmann Digital Controllers? Welcome to the 21st century. Let me clear things up for you.  Go ahead ask me what’s on your mind!

What is a Bachmann Digital Controller?

It’s just a straight forward remote control that allows you to control more than one locomotive at a time, no big deal.  It’s a little larger than your common TV remote control.

How can you buy a Bachmann Digital Controller?

Well if you know anything about Bachmann, you know that they have cool starter kits.  Most Bachmann beginner kits will include a digital controller right with it.  Usually they will also come with a couple of different trains and some cars for them to tug.  And enough track to create a little loop as well.  It’s a pretty reasonable deal.  They don’t stiff you on the bill either.  If you’re just beginning and are into HO gauge you can’t miss with a Bachmann beginner kit.

Are the Bachmann HOs good quality trains though?

Ask almost any hobbyist who got started in the last twenty years what train he or she bought to begin and you’ll always get the same answer: a “Bachmann beginner Kit”.  Bachmann does a wonderful job of producing simple straight forward starter sets that let you get going with your model train experience in just a matter of minutes and it does all this at reasonable prices.  Bachmann always has an ear to ground listening for up coming trends and fads, so you are likely to locate what you’re looking for with Bachmann.  Put simply, Bachmann trains rock for beginners!

How long has Bachmann been in existence?

The Bachmann company has been around since the 1830’s and the original 19th century families that started Bachmann, the Carlisle’s and the Bachmann’s still have descendents on the company’s board.  Bachmann was founded in the cradle of democracy itself, but moved its operation from Philadelphia to Beijing in 1999.  Bachmann, despite being so storied, was tardy coming to the model train producing business|.  Bachmann’s strategy has greatly been shaped by its attempt to find a niche outside of the immediate sights of what was then the major player in model trains, Lionel train (now Lionel LLC).  Just as people were trying to find a simpler, less space consuming and less expensive alternative to Lionel’s O gauge trains, there was Bachmann with its easy to set up starter Kits.  By tapping into the customers that Lionel alienated Bachmann established themselves as the new kings of the hill in the model train making world.  Bachmann has always been ahead of the game in responding to industry trends so with the advent of the computer age, Bachmann followed Hornsby trains in introducing digital technology into the training world and so the Bachmann Digital Controller was created.

How does the Bachmann digital controller work?

Well to comprehend it you first have to get the problem that it solved.  It used to be the case back in the day that model trains moved when you charged up the track.  So, you hit the power and every locomotive on the track would move.  If you wanted to operate more than one train and not have them moving at the same time, you needed dual sources of power and two separate tracks.  This was fine if you were only going to operate say two trains, but if you added more trains than this, all the separate wiring and devices started to really create a mess.  The computer age allowed Bachmann to use chip technology to get around this problem. These microchips make it so that the individual trains only responds when commanded.  This makes it so that the track is no longer in control.  The controller communicates when to go.  And you thought computers could never do anything useful.  Good stuff, huh?

If I collect classic trains am I just out of luck?  Do you just have to stick to the old fashioned way?

No. Actually you can install the chip into the trains wiring yourself.  There is some explanatory literature out there but it is possible to make old locomotives control with a digital device.  I personally stay away from anything involving soldering, but as you know I’m extremely clumsy.  It’s not quite as simple as knowing the difference between a Phillips head and flat head, but it’s not brain surgery either.

Anyway, that’s what I can tell you about the Bachmann Digital Controller.  Did that clear up your question? Do you think you could now set me straight on this screw driver thing?

What’s so special about Bachmann model trains?

Bachmann model trains are widely known as some of the best in the model train community. Bachmann model trains have been in operation for many years and have therefore developed a great following amongst long time model train enthusiasts. It is for these reasons that Bachmann model trains remain popular and keep producing greater model trains in many different scales and for different sizes of track.

The Bachmann model trains company are now one of the largest in the model trains industry. They produce a range of fabulous model locomotives and trains, which is why they are so special. People from all aspects of the model train world love to use Bachmann model trains because they are great for beginners and highly experienced people alike.

It doesn’t matter if you are running an O scale train track or an N scale; you can find great trains and locomotives to place and run on your track. Not only that but these trains are some of the most detailed you can find from any manufacturer. The attention to detail is incredible, which is why they are so popular.

As you know, model train hobbyists are fanatical when it comes to the detail on their trains. They want everything to be perfect and resemble the original real life train exactly. This means it needs to be detailed down the finest point.

For experienced model train enthusiasts, the N scale from Bachmann model trains is perfect. Many of the most experienced model train enthusiasts wont use anything other that Bachmann model trains. They are known as some of the most accurate and detailed of all the model trains on the market today.

Bachmann model trains have a long recorded history of building high quality model trains. Some of their model trains are very expensive to buy but you can also find them at low prices.

One example of this is the HO scale. As you know, the HO is the most popular in the entire model train community. This is the scale that most people now use and it is still growing in popularity. Bachmann made a clever move by creating and building model trains for this scale. As such, now you can find a huge range of model trains in the HO scale.

This means that they are less expensive than those in the N scale or the larger O scale. It makes it more affordable for people to buy the Bachmann trains and this has also increased their attention in the market.

Model trains on the HO scales are perfect for people who don’t have the room for the larger scales. Not only this, but they still provide great detail without being too small. The HO scale can comfortably fit into most spare rooms, while also creating a very interesting track layout.

As the HO scale is so popular, Bachmann focused on this scale and created many lines of model trains for it. This led more people to know and appreciate Bachmann model trains, which obviously increased their popularity. This is one of the reasons that Bachmann model trains are so special today.
